Who can participate in Little Athletics?
All children aged between 5-17 can participate in Little Athletics, there is no standard to meet. Everyone is welcome!
Children aged 3-4 can participate in tiny tots. Which is shortened program teaching them the basic fundamental movements of running, jumping & throwing.

What level of ability is required?
The emphasis of Little Athletics is Family, Fun, Fitness. Athletes can participate with any level of skill or fitness. Little Athletics is inclusive and available to all children.

Do you offer trials?
We do offer two (2) training sessions and one (1) competition day on a “Come and Try” basis. During your one trial competition day you will not be eligible for championship points.

Is there training?
This season we are trialling combined centre training at Hourglass Reserve. It is not compulsory and you can attend both or just one day. This is strictly not a drop and go type of training. A parent or guardian must be present at all times.

Tuesday 4.30pm - 6pm - Hourglass Reserve
Thursday - 4.30pm - 6pm - Hourglass Reserve

Is there a lot of parent involvement?
Little Athletics is ran solely by volunteers so yes some parent involvement is definitely required. This is how we keep this sport one of the most affordable around.

For competition day our clubs are each designated a site or two to share the load between everyone.
Clubs will then put parents onto a roster so everyone helps out on site. ALL parents or guardians must help on site. If you are a guardian/grandparent etc you will need a working with children's check - please chat with us if you need any help with this.
The sites usually take between 10-20mins.

If you're just starting out with Little Athletics, we understand that taking the first step to get involved might seem daunting. However, rest assured that not every position demands specific expertise or understanding. Plenty of individuals will be available to offer assistance and direction. It's important to recognize the significant impact you can make as a role model, influencing your child's lasting engagement and delight in our sport.

Do children need to wear a uniform?
All registered athletes must wear their club top, plain black shorts with no logo and their athletics west designated numbers.
​
If children are competing at state events they will also need the centre top.
​
Footwear must be worn at all times including training. Children can wear just normal joggers or specific athletics shoes. Spikes can also be worn for some events.
​
Club singlets are to be worn at training days also.
